Hey fellow golfers! Carolina Golfing here, and I recently had the pleasure of swinging through Hemlock Golf Club in Walnut Cove, NC. Let me tell you, this course was an absolute blast! It’s a very short course, playing around 5700 yards from the blue tees with a par of 70, which really sets you up for some exciting golf. Designed by Orell Robertson and opened in 1969, this public course offers a unique and fun experience, especially with its picturesque setting along the winding Dan River.

Hemlock Golf Club is an 18-hole public course that plays to a par of 70. From the blue tees, you’re looking at approximately 5700 yards, making it quite a manageable length for many golfers. The design by Orell Robertson, dating back to 1969, emphasizes strategic play rather than brute force. You’ll find plenty of opportunities for driveable par 4s and par 5s, where a solid drive can realistically get you in position for a two-shot approach. The course rating is 65.4 with a slope of 113, indicating a fun but fair challenge.

While not lightning-fast, they were still very playable and held shots well, allowing for a relaxed putting experience.
