Overview

Hey fellow golfers! Carolina Golfing here, and today we’re taking a swing at Asheboro Country Club in Asheboro, NC. This course is a real gem nestled in the beautiful Caraway Mountains of North Carolina’s Piedmont Region. It offers a very affordable round with a fun layout that will keep you coming back. While the first three holes might feel a bit unique, the rest of the course is an absolute blast. For the price, the conditions are fair, and the potential of this course is undeniable. It’s not overly difficult, but definitely not a walk in the park either – a good middle-of-the-road challenge.

Course Layout

Asheboro Country Club boasts an 18-hole championship course, playing to a par of 71 and stretching 6,473 yards from the tips. Originally designed by the legendary Donald Ross, the course has since seen a redesign by golf course architect Jim Bivins. The layout masterfully cuts through tall oaks and towering pines, with a scenic 22-acre spring-fed lake adding to the challenge and beauty. It’s a semi-private course, offering a great experience for both members and guests.

Notable Holes

For me, holes 10, 13, and 15 truly stand out with their beautiful views. These holes really capture the essence of the course’s scenic design. The course knowledge is key to score low, especially with its unique routing through the natural landscape.

Course Conditions

Based on my recent visit, the tee box conditions were below average to average, while the fairways and greens were in average shape. The green speed was on the slower side. Considering the affordable price point, I found the conditions to be fair and playable. The course is generally well-maintained, and the greens are running pure and true.

Value & Pricing

Asheboro Country Club offers a low price point, making it an incredibly affordable option for a round of golf. This course is perfect for golfers looking for a fun and challenging layout without breaking the bank. It’s a fantastic value for the experience you get, and the potential for even better conditions makes it a place worth revisiting.

Final Verdict

Asheboro Country Club is a course with immense potential and a truly enjoyable layout. The affordable price, combined with the fun and challenging design, makes it a must-play in the Piedmont region. While some conditions could be improved, the overall experience and the memorable holes like 10, 13, and 15 make it a course I’d happily play again. It’s a solid choice for golfers seeking a good test of their game at a great value.
