Overview
Hey fellow golf enthusiasts! Carolina Golfing here, and I recently had the pleasure of teeing it up at Brunswick Plantation & Golf Resort in Calabash, NC. Let me tell you, this place is a true gem and a definite sleeper for North Myrtle Beach golf courses. With 27 holes designed by the legendary Willard Byrd and Clyde Johnston, Brunswick Plantation offers a fantastic and fun experience for golfers of all skill levels. The clubhouse vibes are fantastic, and the staff is incredibly welcoming – it’s the kind of place you’ll want to come back to again and again.
Course Layout
Brunswick Plantation boasts three distinct 9-hole tracks: Magnolia, Dogwood, and Azalea, allowing for various 18-hole combinations. Originally designed by Willard Byrd in 1991 and later re-done by Clyde Johnston in 1997, the course offers a challenging yet enjoyable experience. From the tips, you’re looking at yardage exceeding 6,900 yards, playing to a par of 72 for an 18-hole round. The course is characterized by its beautiful residential and woodland settings, providing a scenic backdrop to your game.
Notable Holes
While my recent round focused on the Azalea-Magnolia combination, each of the 27 holes offers its own unique challenges and scenic beauty. The course is known for its tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers and water hazards, demanding accuracy and thoughtful shot placement. Keep an eye out for those signature holes that test your nerve and skill!
Course Conditions
During my visit, the course was in pristine condition. The fairways were lush and green, providing excellent lies, and the greens were rolling fast and true – absolutely fantastic! The tee box conditions were above average, and the overall maintenance of the course was exceptional. It’s clear the grounds crew takes immense pride in keeping Brunswick Plantation in top shape, making for a truly enjoyable round.
Value & Pricing
Brunswick Plantation offers a medium price point, which, for the quality of golf and overall experience, is an excellent value. This course is perfect for golfers looking for a challenging yet fair round on a beautifully maintained course without breaking the bank. It’s a great option for both locals and those visiting the North Myrtle Beach area.
Final Verdict
I can’t recommend Brunswick Plantation & Golf Resort enough. The 27 holes offer variety, the conditions are consistently excellent, and the staff creates a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or looking for a fun day out, Brunswick Plantation delivers. I’ll definitely be back here soon!
